Sam Reed Films

Sam Reed is a writer, director and animator from Melbourne, Australia. He started his career at Ear, Nose and Throat productions, a company he co-founded with his brother, Josh, and friend, Nigel Christensen. ENT produced award-winning animations for clients as diverse as MTV, the ABC and McDonald’s. Since then Sam has worked in Australia, Vietnam and the USA. In 2009 Sam co-wrote and directed the Web series, Larry Labrat, which won an Honorable Mention at the Webby Awards in New York. On returning to Australia Sam made his first foray into documentaries, directing Wagner’s Ring – A Tale Told in Music, a four-episode series about Richard Wagner’s epic Ring Cycle.

More recently, when not working on his own projects, Sam has been working with Somebody's Daughter Theatre, a community theatre company that produces plays with the women at the Dame Phyllis Frost Centre, Victoria's maximum security women's prison, as well as with disadvantaged youth from both Albury-Wodonga and Geelong.

Sam’s hobbies include macramé and bee-keeping. He has a hive in his backyard, though as yet it has failed to produce any honey. His neighbours insist it’s a wasps’ nest, but Sam refuses to believe them. They are threatening to call an exterminator, but fear not, Sam will do whatever it takes to save his beloved bees.
